I disagree. He had Blake Sims a literal running back setting passing records with Bama.

Deboer can coach ball. There's absolutely NO question about that. Does he want to get in the mud and do the dirty work that's going to be required of the HC at Alabama? That's the question with him.

In fact, If we start getting public denial statements then something has gone off the rails.

If this guy Lanning says anything other than "I'm going to Bama", or "They have not even contacted me", then someone screwed up.

Crazy to me we are saying DeBoer is a failure of a hire. Winning record, winning record against top teams, competent coordinator hires (Saban wanted his OC), Joe Moore developed O-line, out coached Lanning and Sark, brilliant WR development, class act head coach … etc etc

But hey I guess at least Lane knows how to Portal and is fun on twitter.

That’s incorrect. Lane made Blake Sims a record breaking QB. Blake Sims….a converted athlete. Sims was actually my Milroe comp almost the entire year.

Kiffin did great with Blake Sims.

I actually think it would be pretty electric. Lane can scheme like a mother and he loves to use the QB run when he has a guy that can scoot.

I’m pretty sure besides his family, Greg Byrne, and the president of the university No one knew he was retiring until just before that meeting and they didn’t get that much of a heads up. This was a sudden announcement

DeBoer has done more in less time at a program that was in worse shape on the field and financially than Ole Miss

Yeah, but he’s done that in the PAC 12. I know Lanning is in the PAC 12, too, but Lanning has demonstrated his recruiting abilities. Will DeBoer be able to recruit at the level necessary to win at Alabama?

Yeah I'm not big on DeBoer at all. People want to bring up Bo Nix, but DeBoer and Penix have the same relationship, and DeBoer lacks the SEC connections that Lanning has.

Hes been insanely good wherever hes been. I can see wanting a Saban protege...but if anyone got upset that Bama hired a guy that was 104-12, they are delusional. You dont just fall into success like that.

The nike and Oregon thing is blown out of proportion. Nike won't risk losing business with all the other teams to support Oregon. Phil Knight is a different story.

Correct. NIKE isnt spending money because they don't want to tick a revenue source off. But Phil Knight is a product of Oregon and spent 250k for a 10 min drawing of Kaevon Thebedeaux done by famed show designer Tinker Hatfield. That's always been my fear re: NIL. Bama has tons of passion but how many billionaires. a single Phil Knight @30+ billion can supersede all of Bama's resources. Now the flip side of that is...and it didn't work at ATM ...are kids that go solely for money the best way to build a team

Not against Ohio State in the playoffs.

We were up 21-6 with Henry running wild and we started throwing the ball.

This. I think Kiffin is not a great fit for HC. Put me down as wanting DeBoer.

Should have beaten Clemson in 2017. When up by two scores in the 4th. Why not keep running the ball?

Does having a top 3 class hold the same value as it did 3-4 years ago? Half of your class is going to portal out. What's most important is playing winning ball, getting guys to the NFL, and having enough NIL money to snag talent out of the portal.

I have to ask myself, that while I know plans have probably been in place for weeks or more, and if Lanning was indeed in Tuscaloosa last night, or today, why would he do that just to turn down the job? If he was in Tuscaloosa, it was to finalize things, not interview. It’s either him or Kiffin, and I would very much prefer it not to be Kiffin.
