Which means the income distribution is what in statistics is skewed. Louisiana's GDP is doing well, we grew about 6% the last 2 quarters of the year (Texas is humming along over 7%). Real Income growth is about 3% which is much higher than other Southern Areas, again Texas is moving along at 5.2%.

Louisiana Mean per capita income is around $29.5K and MO is $31.5K, Mean per capita household (That would income Married households, etc) for LA is $73.7K MO is $78.1 k.

Louisiana income statistics are not this we are the poorest in everything, that is BS. If you plot a Distribution, are Mean/Median Income is not that far from what say yours are in MO, but if you do to the left tail of the distribution, there is about 18.6% LA population at the poverty rate which again is why are income statistics have seriousness skewness.
