that's not their words, but i've heard many of them stating how proud they were of the team for getting this far, etc. Even Ole Nick said it. While there is truth to the statement, i've never heard alabama talk like this.

Let's face it, Nick is on the decline. Part of what Nick has had is his energy. He was coaching 100% of the time all the time. Now, he's turning into a wise old grandpa. Alabama has thrived off that energy and it's fading. Yes, his persona and gravitas allow him to recruit at a high level and keep the program going at a high level, but you can hear it from alabama nation - they know they are moving into the twilight years.

Kudos to those who won't get angry but appreciate what they've had. that's really what it is all about.

I dunno... if there is an obvious sign of decline with Bama, I think it's the performance of their OLine. Granted Michigan had a great DLine, but Bama's Oline got bullwhipped, 5 sacks in the first half. That used to not happen with a Saban coached team. I wouldn't be calling it a moral victory if it was UGA...that's just me.

So a program in decline beat your team and won the SEC Championship? Got it, Bulldog logic at it’s best.

That is not a moral victory. Are you new to sports?

They skipped the grief phase and went straight to bargaining. They cannot handle the grief yet. I went from pure joy watching them cry, but now I’m genuinely sympathetic. Can you imagine going back home to your trailer having to turn your fat wife and medicate her bed sores, and not have the one thing to distract you from that nightly obligation?

How is that claiming a moral victory?

We lost a Heisman winning QB and best defensive player in the country to the draft. Had a starting QB that was completely unproven and whose prior OC suggested that he consider a position change. Had the least number of returning starters in the SEC and was ranked 125th out of 133 D1 teams in returning experience. Replaced both coordinators (although the prior ones were admittedly shitastic).

Realistically, we probably should’ve had a LSU 3-4 loss type of year, but we didn’t and ended up with an undefeated conference record and a SEC championship.

You’re a dumbass if you think that’s not exceeding expectations.

The moral victory was claimed on Monday night by the LSU, AU, and UGA fans…and buckI.

Didnt have high hopes this year with a new QB and coordinators. If you followed Bama this year you know they could have lost 4 games. But they found ways to win. Says a lot about the team. You might say they had “the chest” for it. OL struggled early, especially since Milroe holds the ball so long. Fixed it and won the conference and a spot in the final four. Good season.

Had an opportunity to do more but a good scUM defense and suspect play calling ended it.

It’s the first time in the Saban era they have gone 3 years without a title. So yes a down year and yes a decline.

Believe it or not, if you don't act like an emotional bitch 24/7, you can actually appreciate a season where an exit in the CFP Semifinal is as far as you got.

What I get from your thread is that some people cannot fathom that Bama fans didn't think this team would do this well and are just happy we had a lot to be proud of.

You seem not to be able to understand the above comments, which are totally simple. We had lower expectations, and left with more than we expected... and we are content.

It's curious that seems so foreign to some of you.
