I'm excited about Wommack. Young, agressive coach, lots of upside.
On the whole, I'm very happy with the changes to the staff on defense. We've lost a LOT of talent and experience on D to the draft and the portal, but the new DC and coaches look very good.
I don't want to be negative about Kevin Steele, because I never thought he'd be able to turn the soft, utterly un-Bama like, 'couldn't tackle an opposing player if their lives depended on it' defense from Pete Golding into a respectable unit as fast as he did.
However, Saban mentioned in his post-retirement interview with ESPN that he had to put so much attention into the defense last season that it wore him down. Time for some new blood.
The new staff is young, yet experienced, with all having earned respect at their respective positions.

Hopefully Womack knows what he is getting into and the stage and the pressure won’t get to him.
He is not going get a long leash from the fans.
