Just saw this. Possible forfeit? There has to be serious repercussions for this like a bowl ban the next year.

It’s completely legal.

What rule have they broken? LSU played Kansas St with like 40 players and a WR playing QB. Teams losing a ton of players for bowl games has become the new normal. Schools can't make players play, and there's no bylaw or contract being broken by players opting out or transferring.

We were down 31 and 17 starters. Play the game!

They're doing it out of spite.
Had they not been in the playoff conversation and this was a 1 loss FSU team getting to go to the Orange Bowl they wouldn't have this many opt outs.
Had they been at close to full strength and still get soundly beaten by UGA, no doubt would be left by even their biggest defenders that they didn't belong.
Here, they are taking that talking point away so they can say "we'll never know."

Why would there be repercussions? The individual players are not obligated to play in an exhibition game. The players are not employees, and most of the opt outs are not going to be at FSU next year.
So how/why would you punish the program? FSU will field a team so it meets its obligations.

What a bunch of bitches! It comes from their head coach being so negative about getting left out of the PO. Last year Saban made a plea to be in it before the committee voted but accepted it after. The way he did it inspired our guys to play in the bowl game. Both Bryce Young (NFL draft #1) and Will Anderson (NFL draft #3) decided to play leading the rest of our guys to play as well. Then we kicked arse in the bowl game to show the committee they were wrong. Thats how you make a statement. Not the "I ain't playing" pussy way. And it all starts with the head coach.

Why? LSU played with fewer than 40 scholarship players. All programs don't waive the white flag like the one in College Station.

If LSU was able to play K State with 38 scholarship players and a WR at qb, then FSU should be ok.

Bowl games were always just exhibition games; not sure why this is such a big deal now.

UGA is down 24 players... 22 in the portal
I think FSU is up to 20 however most all of their premier players are out.
