would they surpass the SEC?
Ohio State
Notre Dame
USC
Michigan
Clemson
Penn State
Washington
Florida State
Oregon
Wisconsin
UCLA
North Carolina
Iowa
That's a pretty good baker's dozen to start with
Recall posters here saying there's no way they'd allow Oklahoma & Texas in the SEC (granted many still don't), but there's a battle underway for the top brands
We have to recognize the changing landscape and realize that there will be strength in numbers going forward and we never want to relegated to second fiddle
Despite emotional negative message board postings, I can't imagine that there aren't serious negotiations underway behind the scenes
Future SEC?
West:
Oklahoma
Missouri
Texas
Arkansas
Texas A&M

LSU
Ole Miss
Mississippi State
Kentucky
East:
Alabama
Florida State
Georgia
Clemson
Auburn
North Carolina
Tennessee
Florida
South Carolina
Vanderbilt

It's dog eat dog. If the SEC isn't committed to capturing the remaining significant programs on the board that aren't already in the SEC or Big Ten then they're fricking up.

They go from having 1 championship in the last 20 years to having 4. Big deal

SEC and Big 10 should just break off and leave the NCAA. Pick the top 64 programs and divide it up North and South. Wherever that line is drawn, deal with it.

The SEC teams will already receive 100 million per team from the TV deal. The only teams of value that wouldn't dilute the payout would be the Virginia and North Carolina schools.
Clemson, FSU, and Miami have no shot at the SEC. It's not a charity conference. If it doesn't make dollars then it doesn't make sense.

FSU is a big brand but it doesn’t bring any extra fans to the SEC in general like the previous expansions did, nor will it elevate FSU.
As much as I don’t like OU or UT, the SEC is making the right moves and I’m looking forward to some great games and hugely increased SEC coverage in Texas.

Not IF…it’s when. FSU will be out of the ACC by August 2025.
3-5 other schools will join FSU to the Big10.
And yes, the new Big10 will be the only true National conference and blow by the SEC in terms of dollars.

If sec teams want to play these games then schedule them as OOC games. No sense in putting more teams on the payroll.

If Greg Sankey and the 16 member Presidents of the SEC are shrewd, and I believe they are, then look forward to the next round of SEC Media rights negotiations.
ESPN / Disney are stretched thin. I’ve read stories Disney may spin off ESPN to raise cash. ESPN is their cash cow.
I believe the players wanting to obtain SEC programming will be enormous. The idea of adding any of the schools you mentioned might be and probably would add great value and fit into the SEC footprint.
I just don’t think any one media outlet is rich enough or would want to take on the risk of the type money upcoming on next media deal. The media companies risk is their advertising rates could suffer if games are bad and underperform. Adding the teams you mentioned would help alleviate that concern somewhat.
The current issue is the SEC’s nemesis, Big 10, might make preemptive move and snatch these teams. Their media partners, NBC, CBS, FOX combined make a formidable force against Disney.
Lastly, I believe a real discussion will be had about the bottom feeders of the SEC. I won’t mention their names but their contribution is paltry compared to the top half.
Vandy reaps huge financial gain but does nothing to help ratings. Same can be said for others
I see a 32 team super league. It would have a commissioner, a new media contract, and ties with existing conferences a memory. Not saying the SEC, Big Ten, Acc, Big 12 would not continue. They would.
The new league, would consist of teams with the largest fan bases and media ratings. I think we can all figure who that would be.
So yes, these teams you mentioned are all national brands with huge fan bases.
Will be interesting these next five years to see what happens.

Dude’s team isn’t even part of the SEC yet and he is worrying about “what ifs” with the Big10……..

In no world will Notre Dame end up in the SEC. Period. Offer them the mom, they aren’t taking it.

I'm torn on this. Part of me says "HELL NO!".
Then again, it would be a mighty blow against the B1G to take their "ultimate goal".

With their own TV deal with NBC, why would Notre Dame join either conference? They wouldn't.
Notre Dame gets $22M a year. The new SEC contract with ESPN is for $300M...only $18.75 per school...and that's before the league office takes their cut.
