Well by your measure pretty much any non big 6 team should be booted then
Not necessarily. Ole Miss would have a better chance of staying since they're the flagship.

It is possible, we may eventually become the NCFL. (National College Football League).

The state TX is obviously much more valuable than MS so it's fine to have both A&M and Texas.

That wall of text means you know Mizzou's out.
Texas will ruin the conference before there is ever a chance.

Vandy keeps the conference grade point average up. Mississippi State an original member. Try again!

Don’t give me the GPA average or graduation rate crap. This is all driven by money. It’s time to cut the schools that will never be nothing. SEC doesn’t need two schools in freaking Mississippi
- South Carolina needs to be traded for Clemson
- Vandy and Miss St need to be booted for Va Tech and UN
LSU need to be traded for Tulane.

But why would we get rid of charter members
Posted on 12/22/23 at 6:32 pm to TrueLefty
It’s heading for NFL control anyway. All pro football now. Worthless

When have yall ever heard a tv representative say “charter member”? Where do yall get this shite from…

Because the concept an SEC would go away. It will be the top 64 programs based on monetary concerns. Can they support a program, can they fill a 65,000 seat stadium, is the administration willing to support a for profit program.
2 conferences (under new names) with 4 16 team divisions. And it will be football only with a non ncaa governing body controlling schedules, no more ambiguity in a playoff.

Thoughts on small population states vs larger states. Does Nebraska get in vs both UCLA and USC? Nebraska smaller Nielsen markets vs California. But do you take one Cali school plus nebraska or both cali schools? Hypothetical extreme but you get my point.

OM, as a “flagship” institution, isn’t even a consensus majority in the state of Mississippi in regards to support within the state. They are likely a more recognized brand nationally, but there are far more Mississippians wearing maroon and white. OM is a fallback school for people that couldn’t get into their major states university….Tennessee, Texas, Georgia. If your angle is the Mississippi market, state is clearly superior. OM hasn’t been a majority state supported team since early, mid 2000’s.

Smaller markets that can fill a 65,000 stadium and have an administration that wants to support a for profit program would be eligible. 64 such programs is a big number in the grand scheme of things and as had as it will be to just find those 64 I believe we will see a bunch of mid to lower p5 schools not want to go that route and a bunch of g5 schools fill those slots.
Nebraska attendance of late has been below 50,000 but in 2023 they were well above the 65,000 I suggest. And the university has a proud tradition that might make it want to be in the new division. A school like UCF might push to expand its stadium to hit the 65,000 seats or the 65,000 seat stadium idea might have to be lowered to a minimum of 50,000 seats. A school like UCLA that struggles with attendance and doesn’t emphasize football might opt to stay in the NCAA football league despite the great market and obvious capacity and history.
I believe after looking at it the capacity thing would need to be at a minimum of 50,000 with attendance of a minimum of 40,000. There are not 64 programs that have 65,000 seat stadiums and fill them regularly.

Vandy, not only an SEC original mamber, boosts academics.

No matter how elite the conference is, someone has to finish last. Is that school always on the chopping block?
Suppose you chop them. What do you do about the next last place team?
This pattern will continue until only 1 team would remain (who would be 1st & last place simultaneously).
