What happens when you have two undefeated teams in SEC play?

Unless we do away with OOC games, you’re not going to be able to have everyone play everyone (not really feasible either way, but still).

For example, Alabama doesn’t play Texas or Ole Miss next year. Texas doesn’t play Ole Miss next year.

You could have 3-way tie with all 3 undefeated. Who wins? It’s going to be bad enough when one of those three teams doesn’t get in because Vandy lost to South Carolina or some such nonsense.

I like it, but I do see the point about whichever two teams being in the CCG are already qualified foe the playoff. I suppose the CCG would help with seeding.

Which is a good reason for some type of functional divisions every year. You want to see the "best" teams play at some point in the regular season or SEC CCG.

Six, eight, or twelve playoff teams creates plenty of opportunity for deserving teams. But the conference championship is also a meaningful accomplishment that shouldn't be shitcanned for a the playoffs.

You don't want college football to turn into college basketball where the emphasis on the playoff marginalizes the regular season. College football is really the only sport with an exceptionally valuable (must watch) regular season and that needs to be protected.
