Because the thing everyone knows and isn't saying, is that had UGA won, it would be 4 undefeated P5 champs in the playoffs.

It isn't really "Bama", it's the SEC. They can't leave a 1 loss SEC champ out, because the SEC has been winning most of the titles since the turn of the century. But they can't take Alabama without taking Texas, who came into Tuscaloosa and beat them. So by Bama winning, you flip 2 slots, not just one.

This is why Texas and Oklahoma are moving to the SEC. More influencial conference, and they aren't scared of Bama (11-4-2 combined record against the Tide, and Saban won't be there much longer anyway).
