Just one example - pharmaceutical companies barely develop any new drugs. Universities do. Look all throughout the medical and tech sectors, and you'll see this story repeated over and over again.

Where I work, for every dollar of tax money we do get, we generate four dollars of economic impact back out of it, and we aren't even a bigger R1. But sure, let's frick with that apple cart because Alabama got to play a football game and FSU didn't.
