Don’t be naive. There’s virtually nothing the government isn’t involved with in this day and age. Some of the playoff committee members were literally politicians.

None of these have held elected office. None appear to have ever sought elected office.

Of the prior members, it looks like only Condi Rice could be considered a politician and she served in an appointed position. She's also been gone since 2017.
