It’s literally written into the criteria that all the conferences, and therefore the school presidents and ADs agreed on.
It sucks. No doubt about that, but according to the agreed upon rules, it is something the committee considers.

So I guess keep the best players on the bench as much as possible so they don’t get injured, miss the playoffs, and negatively impact their NFL draft status and college awards?
