The SEC championship will possibly be detrimental to SEC teams moving into the 12 team format.... Conference championships will not mean much, as the majority of the 12 teams will not be conference champions. I can envision multiple scenarios where an additional loss would remove a potential SEC team from consideration.

The four highest rated conference champions will receive a first round bye in the new model. Where that hurts most is when you have two of the top four teams from one conference - only the champ will get a bye.

I don't like the CC game in a 12 team PO. You will most likely get a bye if you are the CC but the loser, if still in it, would end up playing 5 post season games if they won them all. The CC game, plus 4 PO games. Since the regular season is 12 that makes 17 games in all. It's too many to ask for a college student.

Its been a minute since the SEC was not harder to win than the Natty. Its been even longer since winning the SEC was not at least as hard to win as winning the Natty. The success that Alabama has had in the SEC CG is the truly remarkable thing that Saban has been able to accomplish, the bastard LOL. Getting a bye by winning the SEC is a BIG deal but losing the SEC will almost certainly eliminate a team from the SEC which is certainly one of the 12 best in the nation. It is hard to imagine a scenario where at least 3 SEC teams aren't among the 12 best but it is not hard to imagine the SEC getting 2 teams in the 12 team playoff some seasons.
