It killed plenty of small delta towns that had good football teams that produced good talent.

It sucks because there were some great teams at Barton. That 87 or 88 team was the best in the state. Imagine a 2A team beating a 7A team. If I remember correctly they went undefeated and were unscored on.

Yes Barton had 63 consecutive victories from 1986 until 1990. That led the nation at the time.

Those Barton teams would beat Rogers Heritage, Springdale and Springdale Harbor.
