Consolidation has hurt a lot of Arkansas delta schools.
Forrest City, Pine Bluff, Helena and Barton are a few examples that have suffered from population loss and school consolidation of the lawsuit that came from Lake Village.
It killed plenty of small delta towns that had good football teams that produced good talent.

That’s the only thing that keeps the southern Georgia schools relevant in sports. Nearly every county has a county school to go along with main city school.

It sucks because there were some great teams at Barton. That 87 or 88 team was the best in the state. Imagine a 2A team beating a 7A team. If I remember correctly they went undefeated and were unscored on.
