I grew up in the southeastern portion of the state and go back for holidays and hunting seasons. No one is staying in those towns any longer.

If sucks because I wish there were more jobs, better opportunities to stay, etc. Being from NWA and watching it grow not only in people but overall wealth, it’s hard to see other parts of the state not have lightning in a bottle with Walmart, Tyson, etc. and to your point it seems like everyone is leaving but not all are staying in state - so we potentially lose more D1 talent on a per capita basis bc of that. The amount of transplants up here and kids that don’t want to play D1 for Arkansas is infuriating(the few that actually have the talent for SEC). I know there’s a lot more that goes into it, but our big schools that are winning state titles don’t necessarily have that many kids that could ever play SEC ball. Maybe I’m totally off. Might be a hot take.

Consolidation has hurt a lot of Arkansas delta schools.

Forrest City, Pine Bluff, Helena and Barton are a few examples that have suffered from population loss and school consolidation of the lawsuit that came from Lake Village.

It killed plenty of small delta towns that had good football teams that produced good talent.
