You’re more than entitled to your opinion, but just wanted to point out that public’s do just as much as what you claim as privates likely do.

I’m talking about the schools in se ark in the small towns. No one is coming to these towns to play sports. When they finally get a good group of local kids that can compete with other small towns they still aren’t going to have enough talent to compete with PA or such academies. Just pencil them in as champs every year.

But I no longer have kids playing so it may be different now but it sure was aggravating to watch.

I grew up in the southeastern portion of the state and go back for holidays and hunting seasons. No one is staying in those towns any longer. Every trip I take, it seems like population amounts on signs get smaller and smaller. Kids that leave for education after high school, likely don’t move back. That’s the actual problem. There’s nothing there for kids who have an opportunity to get out.

Small town schools aren’t in the same class as Pulaski Academy. The smallest private that’s decent at football is Harding Academy, and aren’t they 4A?

Small town football, which to me is 3A and 2A, were completely dominated by Junction City, Prescott, Booneville, and Charleston for many of the 2000’s. Those schools combined have won 17 state titles between them in that timeframe (2000-2022).
