From an LSU fan who attends every home game, this is not nearly a count of butts in the seats.

Fairly certain everyone does this, and not just college athletics. They count all purchased tickets, Media, staff, workers, ushers, everything. Attendance numbers are fudged everywhere. It’s all for PR and economic purposes
