I honestly don't think that's the dynamic here. I'm sure Pittman is more than happy to give up all control of offensive game management. He's awful at it and has admitted he doesn't know what to do in certain situations. This feels like we're going back to giving him a crutch to lean on like Odom was for him initially.

It begs the question. Did admin force the hire without Pittman blessing or did Pittman ask for him or was involved in search/hire?

Its smart. HC always gets bigger limelight so as OC he’ll take less PR hit from his biking incident. Then next middle/end of year when Pittman gets fired Patrino moves right in and fans will have been over the biking incident by then.

Very calculated and smart way to get him back as HC

Sam needs someone with legit HC experience to lean on. He clearly still doesn't know what the frick he's doing on Saturdays.

This may turn out to be a shitshow, but it'll be exciting nonetheless.
