Saban confirmed after the game that Alabama was not on a silent count; we tried it against TAMU and had nine false starts. Regardless of whether the center heard him, the Auburn player violated a rule that has been enforced consistently this season and he should have been penalized, giving Alabama second and goal from the 4 instead of third and goal from the 26 or thereabouts. Thankfully, Alabama won, so it doesn’t matter. But, no matter how you slice it, it was a missed call with an enormous impact.

Tyler Booker was on the Next Round and he said the clap was the reason for the snap. FWIW, he didn't bring it up but was asked what happened by the hosts.
It all worked itself out. I thought the refs sucked over all. To me, it seemed like the refs were embarrassed by missing the blatant facemask and all 50/50 calls went Auburn's way.

quote:Good take. Agree, no matter if it caused the snap or not(which i believe it did), the ref should have thrown a flag for the DB clapping. Overall AU got more their way by the refs.

Saban lied. No team would be on a sound count at Jordan-Hare at night anymore than going on a sound count in Tiger Stadium at night.
Saban lied.
