Lebby concerns vs. Lebby strengths:

Lebby had a veteran QB in Dillon Gabriel. Dillon was also familiar with Lebby's offense and with Lebby himself, when he transferred to OU. Lebby had an NFL receiver (Denver) for Dillon to throw to his first year at OU. That was year 1.

Year 2, Lebby continued a nice job with Dillon as his QB and continued to develop him.

That's the good.

Here's the other side.

Lebby tends to make head-scratching calls during games. He will nearly always call a long bomb on first downs. That works about once out of 5 attempts. The other 4, he's in 2nd and 10, and sometimes 3rd and long. You'll see.

He is also OBSESSED with the horizontal game. He loves jet sweeps, reverses, double and triple reverses, and sideways passes, often behind the line of scrimmage.

Lebby doesn't seem to put much value into running the ball. I think he's actually less likely to develop a run game than Lincoln Riley. Lebby is very pass-oriented. His RB coach does ALL of the developing with the backs. At least that's how it was run here at Oklahoma.

Lebby is not a good clock manager during games. He will frustrate you on down and distance issues. For example, he'll throw a 40 yard bomb on 3rd and 1. Then you'll be punting.

Yes, the guy has put up points. No doubt. Yet, he will frustrate the sh*t out of you regardless. He put up points here in a weak Big 12 with a roster of top 10 recruits.

Can he do that at Miss State? I hope so for you guys. But I'm skeptical.

He put up legit numbers in the SEC with a middle of the row talented roster at Ole Miss. Maybe you guys need to get out more.

Regardless thanks for the write up.

That’s it?

Mullen ran a 160 lb RB through the A gap several times a game for an entire year and was still rumored to be in the running for every coaching vacancy in CFB at the end of the year.
