Good points. Also Deion being a former superstar player transitioning to coach hasn’t really been done too much before…. All new territory.

It’s crazy to me that his name is mentioned at somewhere like A&M.

Good results at JMU but they have sucked shite through a straw all year after being hyped up after beating a bad TCU team in week one.

They may drastically improve, and then he’s ready for that fully guaranteed oil money. But now? He’s totally unproven.

Nobody serious has mentioned him as a candidate for our job or that we’ve vetted him really. I think he plays up outside jobs in pressers for the hype, recruiting and otherwise.

He crushed it.

CU won one game and their avg loss was by 41 points in what was a horrible PAC 12 in '22. Most importantly they are the #2 most viewed team in '23. That increase in viewers has never come close to happening, ever.

If the portal didn't exist, he'd probably have 0 wins this year.

He did a great job his first also, for sure. I think a major program should see him build and sustain it before hiring him. But CU should have been terrible this year.

Can you name another 1-11 team from 2022 that’s faced more adversity than the Buffs, have less talent, but a better record?

It’s Northwestern. Coach Prime just didn’t do a great job

Game 1, myself and extended family (buncha white people) cheering the win. Awesome for Deion.
Soon after, Deion makes some kind of idiotic race-baiting statement.
So frick Deion. Done with that race hustler.

He’s essentially a figurehead who does no coaching. Barstools Portnoy bought him a roster and his coordinators coached them, until he thre2 a tantrum an$ demoted a good oc lewis. He makes a lot of dumb comments in between doing commercials. That’s about it.

Exactly. And the reason for this is he is in no way a traditional coach. How could he be? His highest level of coaching anyone at anything pre-JSU was pee-wee football. He is a figure head/CEO who will likely be able to recruit, put asses in the seats and sell the program nationally and he will always be EXTREMELY reliant on assistants to do the actual player development and game planning.

Sanders is not an Xs and Os coach. He is getting most his attention because of his past, his hype, and his skin.

He’s just the shiny object of the day. Hasn’t shown a thing yet.

Someone has to be the boss and you can’t be the boss of a successful organization if you’re 100% reliant on one or more underlings IF the underling is free to go elsewhere. It works to a degree in the military but when people can drag up and go somewhere else they will if they’re doing ALL the work and getting little recognition. They will also sabotage one another to gain leverage. He will have mores seasons like this one than good to great seasons.

You might say it's an entirely different team.

A media success job.

A football failure.

Gave daddy ball a bad look at the D1 level. That stuff should end by high school.

Bad. If not for his son at QB he might not have won much more than Colorado did last year.

He did fine for what Colorado had been. Who knows if they will get better. They play in the pac10 so weak schedules abound.

Like most things people discuss, there is no middle ground here. You did a fine job of recapping it.

But most are gonna either say he sucks or that he's a great coach.

What he did early on was worthy of some praise, but not the adulation he got from the media. He won a couple of games more than he should have.

I think people thinking he was gonna be able to recruit a top ten class immediately are kind of shocked it hasn't turned out that way. Kids don't just play for celebs these days. Lot more to it than that.

He won 4 times the amount of games it did last year...

CU Sold out Every game and has been on TV in "Prime" Slots frequently....

He has kids from all over the country want to play for him and moving into the Big 12 against weaker programs should help the program.

With recruiting and the portal, CU should do pretty good next year.
