Only 2 teams have won a national championship since 2007 without a top 3 class. Both had generational first round nfl starter quarterbacks.

Clemson with Deshaun Watson
Clemson with Trevor Lawrence

And no one except Oklahoma in 2000 has won a title this century without at least one top 10 class in their 4-year recruting cycle.

Clemson kind of broke the mold by using Top 10-15 classes with a 1st round NFL QB at the helm. That's the only way to do it purs9de of stacking top 5 classes on top of top 5 classes like Bama, UGA, and Oh State do now.

Thats why most of the resources need to be thrown at HS recruits and maybe you can hit on a portal QB who is a future NFL guy like Penix.

Those are really the only ways to really compete now.

If Arkansas could ever revruit consistently on the top 8-15 like Oregon has been doing over the last few yrs, they could actually make some noise. Other than that it won't happen....especially when you constantly have to overcome your HC decisions in games.

yeah we may not ever be able to recruit like these teams but not being able to compete for nattys is not the same as

ole miss competed just fine the past few years under kiffin without top 15 talent. That’s all most people ask for. Which is very doable for Arkansas and we don’t need too 15 talent to not go 4-8
