That's a direct quote from Terrion Arnold regarding how the fans trashed the team after the USF game.
No wonder Saban had a softer approach. Everyone was against these guys, trashed their talent and wanted Saban to join the masses of onslaught.
Instead Saban defended and coddled them, receiving insults from the fanbase along the way with accusations he has gone senile and soft. Once he got them to turn the corner he reignited "chewing arse" to spur them forward knowing he had their entire trust.
What actually happened was a masterstroke because the kids rallied around Saban and now play as if they are trying to defend his honor and not just their own.

A general rule of coaching. You can push a winner a lot harder than you can push a loser. If you push them too hard when they lose, they lose confidence. You push them harder when they win because they already have confidence.

People were ready to cast off this team after Texas, and predicted 9-3 or even 8-4 following the USF game
It’s possible to acknowledge there’s areas that are struggling without abandoning hope entirely. Amazing to me that there’s still people out there thinking Milroe isn’t the answer, and I guarantee you if we lose to UGA, there’s a few “Bama fans” that will practically be celebrating “they were right” and Simpson should’ve been the guy all along

So the fans are the reason this team is doing so good? Sweet!
Also this team was a mess at the beginning of the season. Who could blame anyone for what was thought or said.

I don't remember anyone ripping the defense. The offense was abysmal. Fans are going to fan. Fans will continue to fan until sports aren't a thing anymore. Just the way she goes.
After the Texas game Nick said they deserved to get shite on by fans and the media. It was a bad performance.
However the team needs to get motivated then I'm all for it...I just think OP wants to trot by on his high horse because he continued to pump sunshine after seeing Simpson and Buchner play nauseating football. Hey good for you.
Fans are emotionally invested. That's why I recommend staying away from the internet while watching the game if you're easily flustered. You're only going to regret what you say.

As long as they're chasing dollars, they aren't all they need. This isn't 2018 lol.
But I understand the mentality.
