I think Mike Elko would be the best/safest hire for a variety of reasons.

Schumman may be great but he has zero head coaching experience, that works out sometimes (ala Kirby) but often doesn't.

Elko already knows a lot about the A&M landscape and could retain a lot of the good pieces.

Oh Schumann is a risk. But Lanning was too. I think Eiko is what they need for now

As each day passes, Elko seems like a lock.

I wouldn’t mind Jeff Traylor from UTSA. But that wouldn’t be considered a home run.

Elko is borderline home run. I would say more like a triple hit. May not work out, but higher probability of scoring.

As you stated, he knows A&M and the big stars would stay. Aggies would be guaranteed a top 5 defense each year.

All he has to do is
1. Hire a young OC with the balls to run uptempo
2. Promote ER to DC

Problem solved. I would be content with this outcome.

It will also be nice to not hear a used car salesman ramble all the damn time. Elko is a straight shooter.

Yeah, I dont see them hiring Schumann.

I think Elko is one of the 2 people they could actually get.
