both Texas and Texas A&m fans have said countless times that the big money guys are part of the problem.
Did you ever wonder what it is about running a successful oil company that makes a man think that he is competent to select a football coach?

Arrogance. When no one ever tells you no you think you can do anything. It's a bigger problem for us than it is for you but it's a problem with both universities athletics programs.
Mack Brown was not a great coach but he was great at managing the boosters and that's why he was successful. He was smart enough to let the coaches coach while he managed and massaged egos everyday and it's the one thing we've missed greatly since he left.

My theory is that as far as most undergrads and recruits think, they generally prefer going to study/or play football in Austin than they do at College fricking Station.

So the TRUTH is that no matter the resources, any expectation that a coach at A&M will be able to overcome that slight disadvantage, let alone the disadvantages they have compared to a handful of other SEC schools, is too high.

You can get lucky in a great coaching hire to cancel the disadvantage out. But don't overpay.
