Maybe. But it us Kirby's call to go for it on 4th down.

Their gametying field goal that sent us to overtime is directly related to our failed 4th down try.

Our defense gave up 10 points in regulation and we lost. That is a failure on the offense period. We had an upperclassman Fromm, deandre swift, zamir white, james cook, george pickens, lawrence cager, etc and couldn't score 20 points in 4 quarters. That is squarely on coley.

Coley's fault, that dude sucked balls, even Swift was done playing for him by the end. (not talking about this shoulder injury in the GT game)

1) we were without Jordan Davis. South Carolina was able to run enough to keep 3rd and short. Their balance was good enough to control clock and shorten the game

2) James Cook wasn't James Cook in 2019. He would abuse an Arkansas St or GT. But he didn't do anything in conference play.
Lawrence Cager was hurt. He literally was a security blanket (jump ball for Fromm on 3rd down. Fromm was elite on 3rd downs because of backshoulders and jump balls. When he would lose Wims, Holloman, or Cager who was hurt a lot in 2019 then Fromm was very pedestrian). Upperclassman or not (chaney and coley too), he needed that type of crutch all 3 years.

3) the playcalling was aggressive. We passed the ball over 50 times. Fromm was relying on Demetrius Robinson and Tyler Simmons to be impact players. The result was 3 INTs. Fromm also fumbled the ball away.

If we played ball control and field position, we win that game as our defense gave up 4.6 yards per play.

You said it yourself. The defense gave up a TD and FG. That field goal was off a short field after a turnover on downs (kirby's fault). Punt the ball and we win. The gamecocks only got 30 yards on the drive for the field goal.

lawrence cager

Man, that's a name I've totally forgotten about. He and Matt Landers should do a Rumphsquatch podcast.
