I'd agree with you if the language of the rules specifically eliminated both teams. All it says is "two teams" and not "top two teams".
I guess it should be spelled out specifically for those lacking common sense.

Using your logic, LSU would never win the tiebreaker over OM because they lost the head-to-head, Bama would never win the tiebreaker over LSU because they lost the head-to-head and OM would never win the tiebreaker over Bama because they lost the head-to-head.
What should be done in that case? I guess they would have to resolve it with a 3-team tiebreaker.
Yes, that's exactly what it does - narrows it down to a point where head-to-head matters instead of hinging the entire thing on the luck of the draw on who each team got from the East.

Why would any tiebreakers go beyond head-to-head if Bama beats LSU? They they would win the head-to-head tiebreaker over LSU and OM even if they still ended up in a 3-way tie…the chances of which are minuscule or less at that point.
In the unlikely scenario all 3 teams finish with 2-losses and none of those are Alabama losing to LSU, then section A. of the 3-way tie-breaker kicks in:
quote:
A. Combined head to head record among the tied teams;
Using your applied logic, Alabama goes right then.
Using my applied logic, Alabama goes once LSU is eliminated (being 0-2 against the two) and then Ole Miss is eliminated using the two-team tie-breaker. In this particular scenario though, head-to-head resolved it regardless of which logic you used.

You're an Auburn fan trying to weigh in on which team makes the SECCG.
Common sense would probably be trying to figure out which lower tier bowl Auburn has an outside shot of getting to rather than fretting over which of your betters is going to the SECCG and which two will end up in MUCH better bowl games regardless.
Common sense would probably have steered you away from using a mediocre coach as part of your username.

Blah, blah, blah…
Not going to waste anymore of my time with a moron that is too damn stupid to understand common sense logic.
At least I won this bet:
quote:
Did you finally realize the flaw in your logic and just refuse to be adult enough to admit you misinterpreted the tiebreakers (as I tried to give you credit for)?
Or are you still going all-in on your complete lack of common sense reading comprehension?
My money is on the latter…
Now, get back to work and stop wasting time on your company’s dime…

Betting no money on an outcome.
Yup, that feels very Auburn of you.

You’re wrong BTW
And it was pointed out in the first page.
I am 100% certain and would bet you $10,000. $100,000. You name it.
The tiebreaker stops at East opponent records, unless there is a #1 tie in that. Which currently there is not. If one team is better there than the other 2, the tie-breaker ends.
Definitely not trying to ridicule you or shame you (tiebreakers can definitely be confusing)…. Just trust me, you’re wrong here.
What you’re explaining is if two teams tied East opponent record. #3 team eliminated and then it goes head-to-head. It doesn’t work “bottom-up”… it works “top-down”

You keep acting like a 3+ team tiebreaker becomes a “survivor contest” where each tiebreaker just eliminates one team at most. That would ridiculously absurd.
It would be criminal if LSU outright won the non-division tiebreaker, but then lost the overall tiebreaker to a team that it defeated in the tiebreaker being discussed.
I can’t imagine why any logical person would see it any other way.
I am a high school soccer coach and our tiebreakers are written such as once a tiebreaker is tied, it is not used again.
So in this case, LSU, Ole Miss and Alabama are tied in head-to-head, so that tiebreaker is even. We continue to go through the tiebreakers until the complete ranking is established. So here, it would come to non-divisional record and the only way the tie would be resolved would be if 1 team had a better record than either of the other two. If 2 teams were better than a 3rd, then all three teams would be compared at the next level. It's just a different way of interpreting what it means to be tied.
HOWEVER, in the SEC's case, it is clearly different. If LSU and Alabama were tied in non-divisional opponents records, and Ole Miss is eliminated, then it reverts to LSU-Alabama head to head.
The total thesis here is "What a year for Ole Miss to get to play Vandy."

So Vandy is screwing Ole Miss. Got it.
