It's a good start. Hoping to see more connected folks in addition to Trilly say the same thing in the next 24-48 hours.

You think Rick Smith is calling Sexton to get tips on how to leverage this situation for another raise?

From what I can tell, the biggest buyouts in college basketball paid have been.

- Chris Beard, Texas Tech to Texas ($4.0M)
- Brad Underwood, Oklahoma State to Illinois ($3.0M)
- Chris Mack, Xavier to Louisville ($2.9M)

Alabama just paid the largest buyout in NCAA Football history to hire a coach - $12M to Washington for DeBoer. The biggest buyouts paid to fire coaches in NCAA history are:

1. Jimbo Fisher, Texas A&M ($76M)
2. Gus Malzahn, Auburn ($21.5M)
3. Charlie Weis, Notre Dame ($19.0M)
4. Willie Taggert, FSU ($18.0M)
5. Ed Orgeron, LSU ($16.9M)

Nate Oats buyout is $18M. Paying it would completely reset the college basketball market - exponentially.

While Trilly isn’t the word of God, he is clearly well informed. It’s definitely a well connected writer that wants to be anonymous

I'm not even sure that the situation with NIL at BAMA football is that good by comparison.

I meant in regards to being the top in the nil market.

We’re going to see a lot more programs adopt Nate Oats analytics driven style. Having the ability to get top talent every single year is difference in Alabama/UK.

He’s ahead of the curve right now and that’s why we can bring in players who want to play in his system. What happens when half the league is running the same system in 4-5 years? You’re going to want the advantages to get the best players.

Analytics are certainly taking over sports, but I think the change in college basketball will be similar to how it happened with MLB. Some teams, like us, will jump in headfirst early. We are the Moneyball A's in this scenario. There are still, a couple of decades later, a lot of MLB teams way behind the curve on analytics though because the league is still full of people with old school attitudes towards that kind of thing. College basketball has a similar culture IMO. Lots of old money, exclusive club type mindsets who aren't going to get on board with math and computers taking over their game. Eventually we will get there, but it's probably going to take a good bit more than 4 or 5 years.

Woke up and saw that Trilly post in the discord and feel a lot better now with my morning coffee.

It's pretty unbelievable what Alabama has done during Oats' time here and now we have a program like Kentucky potentially looking at our guy. Crazy times right now.

Also, as far as the FF result, wasn't even mad or upset when the buzzer hit. The reality of the result kinda kicked in at the last media time out and just gave me some time to think and soak in the season. So happy for the program to finally get over that hump and have some tournament success. The only thing that's been lacking from the program, is regular season success and SEC rings have never been too big of an issue. Hopefully, this opens the floodgates and our Sweet 16 record of ours continues to improve over the next few seasons.

I don’t know why Hurley gets all the hate on here. Him and Oats are basically the same guy. Do yall remember the stuff with Wade after the SEC tourney championship or the handshake after the Houston game? Opposing fan bases feel the same way about Oats as yall do about Hurley.

this is true. Reddit especially despises Oats. Nearly every fanbase besides Bama's. He doesn't deserve it, but his reputation is terrible.

I love Hurley, I may be an outcast but they come off similar to me. A lot of people think Oats is a prick. I’m good with it

If he did bolt I probably would go into hibernation

Because Hurley is an a-hole and hating the assholes on other teams while blindly defending the assholes on your team is just part of being a fan. Until the assholes on your team leave and continue their a-hole behavior elsewhere, in which case you always had a bad feeling about them and there is no need to check your post history on that point.

Agreed, if he wasn't our coach I probably wouldn't be that big of a fan.

Don't forget he shoved a Missouri player this season too.

I love the guy, don't get me wrong, but all my friends who pull for other schools respect his style but despise the guy.
