I mean Leach died, and it was days before Signing Day. The circumstances were clearly extreme.

That said, it’s all the more reason to pivot quickly now that it seems to be failing pretty badly.

Then bring in Hal Mumme or something as a stop-gap measure. Don't promote a guy with no HC experience and watch him dismantle the entire offense with a talented senior QB. Sheesh.

Signing class should never be the reason. But to fire a coach just when he is getting his feet wet is a bad look. And a bad move to be honest. Give the guy a chance to figure it out. Otherwise who wants the job? Just to get fired after one damned year. State fans are delusional.
