Yeah
QBs don't use their lower half.

Just so everyone's clear.

You think blocking Dlinemen, LB's, running routes, making cuts and fighting through tackles is somehow equal to a QB dropping back and throwing the ball?

Kind of depends on what you're talking about.

The stress put on the ankle from cutting/running/leverage when blocking is more than from planting and throwing. But no player should be cleared to play if their ankle isn't capable of handling all of those stresses.

But the impact of pain from an ankle that can handle the stress but is not pain free is likely greater on tasks where precision matters... like throwing accurate passes.

For a personal example: I was able to swim in a state championship swim meet with tendonitis in one of my shoulders. It hurt like hell, but my arm was still stable and my muscles were still working, so as long as I could stand the pain from the effort I could "power through it". Ended up doing better than expected in most of my events.

I couldn't have hit a free throw or thrown a strike with a baseball though. My shoulder was in excruciating pain.
