I am more worried about the appearance of casting the blame to fans over NIL. Fans did not ask for NIL. Fans live in the real world. They cannot fret because some pimple faced kid wants 10k a visit. So if NIL is going to be a mess in Kentucky, so be it. I side with the fans. CMS gets paid a ton to figure out a way.

That’s one comment from a whole show (and post-game interviews) where he’s taken responsibility for the game.

As always, folks take things out of context and throw a fit because they don’t want to hear it’s not as easy as just going out and getting players under NIL.

Everyone knows you need to cut the talent gap with a program like Uga, Bama, OSU, Etc.

The only way to do that is buy players just as they all do.

Sounds like CMS just needs to win more and stop blaming the fans.

Anyway, I hate that amateurism is dead now, and you have to pay everyone and pay them handsomely just to lure them to your school.

It's now more important than ever for coaches to "sell" their program to their boosters and fundraise for NIL. While they have to constantly re-recruit their own roster due to NIL & the portal.

Which fans asked for NIL?

The "be the change" kind of people that just want the world turned upside down? Sure maybe they did while sucking on their vape pen.

The majority on this board.
That is a very inclusive group.
"They get paid anyway. Make it above board".
"Coaches get paid. Why can't the players?"
"A player can't monetize any other skills/hobbies. Why should the NCAA tell a teenager that they can't create music for money?"
"Free markets"
"Pay the man (but I won't donate a dime)".
"There is too much money in college football not to pay the players"
"The Players should unionize and collectively bargain"

He’s won more than any Kentucky coach in its history. Bear included.

He better not win anymore or else Auburn will go get him. Stay in your lane.

I don't agree with those reasons.

You asked "who"?

I'd say the "who" parroted those talking points and probably a couple more.

You can’t tell me there wasn’t a qb better than Leary that didn’t want to play for KY.

Every Kentucky fan on this site thought Leary was a young Tom Brady before the season started

It may be Kentucky and not the QB. There was a lot of talk of Levis being a first round and even the first round pick last year....and after a pretty average season by today's CFB standards fell to the second round. There was a LOT of hype around Leary from sources other than UK....you have thought he was most likely an early first round draft pick. He has not been good at all this season. It may be that UK is simply bad at developing and utilizing QB talent.

Stoops and Cal being millionaires is the reason UK fans need to step up, not part of the solution. Either could go to any number of schools today and get a raise...expecting them to pony up money or somehow tying their money to that used for NIL deals at UK would be likw asking a UAW member to donate to a fund to buy a robot to replace the UAW member...ain't gonna happen. If your boss came to you today and asked you to donate to the companies general fund you wouldn't do it and no one else would either...makes no difference if youre making $10 an hour or $10 Million a year...

Losers gonna always make excuses. "They buy players."; "The grass was too long."; "It rained."; "We had injured players."; "That was an illegal hit."; "This was a rebuilding year."

Excuses. The losing team always makes them.

If I'm a kid who is a 4 or 5-star and I am offered a million dollars to go to either UGA or Kentucky and I am from, let's say, Wyoming, where would I go to have the most success and exposure?

Excuses. The losing team always makes them.

Leary committed to Kentucky when they didnt even an OC. He knew he was entering into a difficult situation but did so anyway because of NIL deals.

Yes.

Free market capitalism is always considered woke rag.

Individual protected liberties (ownership of name, image, and likeness) are always considered woke rag.

You could try thinking for yourself instead of melting anytime you see something you don't like.

Businesses are not hiring these guys to advertise. They are “hiring” them to play football.

Most of them are hiring them to have access. They are jock sniffers of the highest caliber...at most schools right now they are happy to be close enough to smell the sweat. It is not going to be long before many of them start thinking the coach ought to consult them on what play should be called and who should be playing. SOme coaches will tolerate that and it will be a shite show. Others will not and some of that group will get run off and some will not....the latter will see the donors dwindle. All we are seeing is the same system of bagmen that we have always had in college athletics...it is out in the open so the $ amounts are going to be higher but it is identical in how it is done and how it will pan out. The blue bloods will get better and everyone else will stay the same or get worse. What may well happen is a bunch of schools eventually join ranks in some kind of traditional college football league...governed by something that actually has the power to govern. That league will be of little interest to anyone other than current students and a small number of alumni.

The fact that Coen was coming back was the worst kept secret in the NFL. They spent an entire game talking about it while he was still employed with the Rams in the Baker Mayfield game.

The whisper number around Lexington is $50 million/year to fund NIL. Can they raise that? questionable

UK is in a tight spot because there is no doubt that they will be more interested in maintaining the basketball program. There are fewer players so the money is less BUT it is a serious consideration at schools where more than one sport matters. Eventually more and more schools will take the UGA approach and nothing will get more than pocket change while football, the one that pays the bills, gets the folding money...
