RIP

He was before my time but my dad said other than LT he had the most influence on the LB position. Watched many an episode of Dick Butkus Outdoors on Saturday mornings as a kid. He was a very accomplished hunter and Outdoor Conservationist.

My high school coach used to make us watch this film over and over again.

He was a 6’3” 245lb beast playing in an era when destroying an opponent was celebrated not penalized.

It’s sad to see these icons from my youth pass away and I had no idea he was 80 years old.

Great player and a fine man.

Damn.

It's a damn shame he never made the All-SEC team.
