The thing is that the overall approach to this game on offense was not wrong. MSU was going to need Alabama to help them to win the game. Furthermore the 3-3-5 stack defense is ill-equipped to handle inside zone runs and power plays out of two TE sets. It just lacks the bodies to hold up to a committed run game. Conversely, MSU's defense is built to be an RPO stopper.
