I just find it irritating to see how the fanbase basically turned on the team this year.
I'm curious as to why?

This team has next to zero connection to anything that has been done prior to this year. Why are they entitled to the good graces earned by other people? Why should they be rewarded with unyielding support when all reports indicate a team that struggled to buy in, isn't working as diligently as past iterations, has no chemistry, and shows no signs of improvement? Then add on multiple instances of very obvious "let go of the rope" moments throughout the season and I just don't see how it's difficult for anyone to find the logic in why someone wouldn't want to support this year's team.

The identity and how they conduct themselves is night and day different from every other team Eric has had since he arrived. We've supported mediocre to bad teams for years. I don't think that's ultimately the issue. This team just does not display a very likeable personality.

I could understand the loyalty before wild west transfers and NIL, now I have no clue why people are willing to attach themselves to what are ultimately mercenaries like that.

We’ll see how the roster shakes out but I think very few of our players are one-year mercenary types. Davenport and Mark probably. The rest have already been here multiple seasons or I think probably will be here next year.

That’s not really the point though. I think it does damage to the program when the fanbase turns on the team, mercenaries or not.
