Honest Question - Is the lineage that important for "tradition" or would it make sense to have a new UGA anointed when one passes?

You know it's bad when you've had more dogs than Bengal Tigers.

We're glad you had such a good friend in special ed. Did you enjoy licking his balls as much as he did?

The problem is not with the lineage as much as it is with UGA being a brachycephalic (short-nosed, round headed) breed. There are around 25 breeds that fit this description.
Brachycephalic breeds tend to suffer from what is called Brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS). They tend to have elongated, thickened soft palates and stenotic nares (narrowed nasal openings). That is what makes them sound like that when they breath. You can decrease some of that out with breeding, but not totally.
Bulldogs get their name from the "Bull baiting" sport.
They were bred to "fight" bulls. They would latch onto the bulls nose and the first one to force one to the ground declared the winner. That is why they were bred with shorter noses and stronger jaws to have more weight and power "up front" when they grabbed onto a bull. Unlike today, they were a more aggressive breed in their origins.

shame no one much cares except to take a shot at UGA or MSU
MSU’s American bulldog as a breed, and the specific bloodline of Bully himself, hasn’t been inbred to the point of cruelty. Big big difference from the English bulldog Uga.

Awesome video. I've never seen an Uga get a bath before. Pretty cool. Thanks for sharing!!!

He moved pretty fast when Bevo got after his arse.

Had an English bulldog that lived to 14 yo. Her child didn’t quite make it to 9. Great dogs but yeah improper breeding to get the white coat leads to major health problems

Auburn's already feeling the heat coming and it's still two weeks away. Imagine making fun of the King's mascot and most precious companion, Uga.
That's treason, Aubie!
Sorry, Trailer Park University, the CROWN IS OURS!
Looks like your balloon's gonna get popped again this year.

The howl that would commence from people over breaking tradition is more than the university is willing to endure.

Is it worse than having their mascot fly into a glass booth from time to time?

Hush your mouth. This fine young upstanding gentleman from the Plains chose to make his first post a crusade to save that poor animal that has been inbred to hell and back by a bunch of rednecks that run around barking at women and children and throwing urine at anyone who dares to come to a game at the great cesspool of the South, the infamous Sanford & Son stadium. Instead of being disparaged as an alter he should be commended for making such a courageous first post on the SEC Rant.
