So from Stetson to Bobo to Beck to Chambliss. Who is the next player we can complain about. Surely there's someone on deck. SMH. Just don't have it in us to enjoy the moment. Every year there's starters that aren't as good an the previous year or the year prior to that, and yet the rest of the team as a whole remains as strong or stronger. We're always focused on the ONE who doesn't meet our expectations....until they do then it's off to the next perceived weak link. I used to stand in awe of some of the Bama fans and wonder how in the peak of their dynasty could their fans have such a microscopic, tunnel view and miss the epic wonder of what was taking place. I still have no answers to that as I see it occur in our own fan base.

The idea on here that Dawg fans are incapable of discussing our players and coaches while still enjoying the ride at the exact same time is somewhat bizarre.

It's not either or. EITHER you never nitpick anything OR you are a miserable or ungrateful fan.

Personally I think that Hondo on the pre-game show sucks and Hairy Dawg is one of the weakest mascots in the SEC and the stadium needs a good pressure washing and looks bad on TV, but that doesn't also mean that I don't realize that these are the glory days and we need to soak it all in as best we can!

You've got an issue with hairy dawg?

I could see vocalizing issues with seniors who never panned out.
But why?
If they haven't transferred out, they are adding value to the program somewhere other than GameDay (otherwise, they would have been run off).

The issue is the complaints are not backed by fact or way overblown in a lot of cases. People who don’t understand basic strategy or zone vs man need to spend some time doing that before they make blanket statements about a player or coaching decision. There are plenty of areas the team can improve on and things individual players need to improve on as well. There can be legitimate conversations on this, but it is hard when people don’t want to learn the basics of football and parrot stuff stated by other dum dums. You do not need to be an ex player to learn this stuff, it helps, but is not required. Top that with people making assumptions on what the player’s responsibility is on a certain play. We can make guesses, but we really do not know.

As example, an OLB may have gap responsibilities on a certain play and is expecting another player to have outside contain. When a play goes to the outside and the other player misses the fill, it is easy to blame the guy who it appears let it happen, when in fact he did his job. We all can make guesses, but we can not speak authoritatively on it. I’m sure I have been guilty of this , so no fan is really above this. There certainly are a lot of thongs we can see clearly, but there are a lot we are making assumptions on.
