Not trying to be combative, really trying to understand where you are coming from. What makes you believe that Milroe would have been successful with the way the OL played yesterday? Every issue Simpson had, holding the ball, not reading the rush, taking sacks that were avoidable, etc. were evident from Milroe the week before. Why would he have been better yesterday with the line play arguably worse than they did vs. Texas?

Because they were killing us on speed rushes around the tackles and you can’t do that against Milroe because it creates running lanes.

To speed rush Milroe around the end, you have to use a LB spy, so 5 guys. If you bring a 4 man rush with no spy, you have to mush rush.

That’s why the OL looked worse yesterday than against Texas. USF didn’t have to worry about rush lane integrity or getting beat over the top. Their 220lb rushers were just getting upfield as fast as they could and our 360lb tackles couldn’t keep up.

I see where you are coming from, BUT I think a lot of us saw Milroe scramble right into the rush, or inexplicably refuse to use his feet when he had open field. If he can be a one read and take off guy, I think we could work with that. But he can’t see the field well enough now to do more (and sometimes his one read goes horrendously wrong). Being a third year guy, that is concerning as far as his ceiling goes.

And just to add, this isn’t meant as a gotcha at all. We all see things differently. I hope that we as fans will be behind whoever comes out first against Ole Miss. if it is Milroe,I’ll be behind him and hope he plays great. If it is Simpson, I’ll do the same.
