From Kirby's press conference today:

What we are witnessing is the need of a boogie man. People with low emotional IQ need this person in place to project the pain of losing upon when it inevitably happens.

The truth is, Bobo isn’t Monken, but he is running Monken’s offense. He is also breaking in a new QB. The defense is good enough to not require our offense to score a ton of points. It is also clear that Kirby wants high% plays that move the sticks and minimizes chances of turnovers. The net affect is our offense runs more plays than the other team, which wears down the opposing defense. It has been a good plan so far. We have gone down field just enough to keep them honest and have not had the need to do so more to date. It doesn’t mean we can’t. It means we don’t have to.

But without a Darnell freak show and Kenny McIntosh back, is it really the same offense?

And even if playbook is the same, the plays should still make sense. Just because the play was used last year, doesn't mean calling a 3rd and 8 screen/extension of run game with a numbers disadvantage is a smart choice.

With the new clock rules, we can't afford to keep starting so slow. Grinding out 12-15 play drives isn't sustainable. Beck/Bobo need to be more aggressive early in my opinion.
