Game One Favors Crimson, 9-3, in Baseball’s Fall World Series

The split-squad World Series will continue on Monday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama baseball kicked off its Fall World Series on Friday afternoon at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. Game one of the series finished with the Crimson team in front, 9-3, across the seven-inning affair.

Bobby Alcock got the start for Crimson, tossing 3.2 scoreless frames with one strikeout to highlight the home team's pitching effort. On the other side, Jonathan Stevens allowed one earned run across 3.0 relief frames with a game-high tying three strikeouts for Gray.

The Crimson offense received multi-hit efforts from Gage Miller, Ian Petrutz, Will Hodo and Justin Lebron. Miller led the way with a team-high three hits as part of a 3-for-4 effort that included a double, a home run, two RBI and a pair of runs scored. Petrutz finished 2-for-4 with a homer of his own and matched Miller with a pair of RBI and two runs. Evan Sleight delivered the game's third home run, recording a two-run roundtripper for Gray.

Alabama will return to the diamond on Monday for game two of the Fall World Series with the finale scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

Admission to Alabama baseball's Fall World Series is free to the public. Gates will open each day at 2 p.m. CT. Fans are asked to enter Sewell-Thomas Stadium through the main gates (Gates 1-3) located directly behind home plate. Once inside, fans are to stay in the lower bowl seating area with access to the upper levels of the stadium strictly prohibited.
