Baseball Posts Complete Performance against Auburn in Friday’s Exhibition

The Crimson Tide totaled 22 strikeouts and five home runs on the night

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama baseball squared off with Auburn for an exhibition on Friday evening at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

Aidan Moza got the start for the Crimson Tide, tossing 2.0 scoreless frames. He was one of 11 arms to take the hill for Alabama on Friday, with the collective group racking up 22 strikeouts and allowing just two runs. Eight total pitchers posted two-plus punchouts with Zane Adams and Greg Farone leading the team at three apiece.

The Tide offense started hot with Gage Miller hitting a leadoff home run. He was followed by Ian Petrutz, who hammered a solo shot of his own. After a pair of singles put two aboard, TJ McCants cleared the bases with a three-run homer to cap a five-run first inning. Alabama plated 10 runs on the back end of the night, highlighted by Camden Hayslip's two-homer performance. The junior hit a two-run shot followed by a grand slam later in the game to finish with six RBI.

Alabama will break for the weekend before returning to the diamond on Monday. Next on the fall exhibition slate is a matchup with Florida State on Saturday, Oct. 28. The Crimson Tide and Seminoles are slated for a 12 p.m. CT first pitch at The Joe.

Head Coach Rob Vaughn
Thoughts on the night:
"Overall, I am happy for our guys. The way they have went about their work this fall – they have been working hard, and to see some of the fruits of their labor pay off tonight was fun. This was a complete effort from start to finish, and that's not easy to do against a team like Auburn, they have a heck of a group. That's a good squad over there with some electricity on the mound, but I thought we did a really nice job against them tonight."
