Two errors and wild pitches and a passed ball and we K their last batter with two outs. Wow. Not for the faint of heart. I got more confidence in Baseball than I do with SFB

Way too invested in the last inning and a half for a March baseball game, I'm going to have to pace myself this season.

Other than AU for obvious reasons, and maybe LSU on Friday (Holman), Tenn is the team we would have wanted to beat the most. Huge wins!!

On my way home from the game. The way this team swings the bat is exciting. Fun to watch. Crowd today was solid but I hope we can pack it out for the monster series we have coming at home the rest of the way.

That felt like a CWS game, not a March series.

Fun fact - Coach Vaughn has never lost a series to an SEC school as Alabama’s coach.

In all seriousness, if he is above .500 in SEC series through 3 seasons, we will have ourselves a serious skipper.

Miller’s Eighth-Inning Homer Lifts Baseball to Series-Clinching, 7-6 Win over Tennessee

The Crimson Tide won its first series on SEC Opening Weekend since 2016

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A three-run, go-ahead home run from Gage Miller in the eighth powered Alabama baseball to an eventual 7-6 win over fifth-ranked Tennessee on Sunday at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The victory helped the 12th-ranked Crimson Tide clinch the series against the Vols and improve to 17-3 on the season, including a 2-1 mark in Southeastern Conference play.

The Tide took an early lead with one in the first but a four-spot in the third helped the Vols gain the advantage. Alabama came right back with two runs in the home half of the third and tied it up with one run in the fourth before the two teams went scoreless headed to the seventh. In that seventh, Tennessee was able to score one and regain the lead until the eighth.

Alabama's eighth began with Mac Guscette being hit by a pitch before advancing to second on a one-out single from Justin Lebron. After a flyout, Miller came to the plate and proceeded to send a 1-0 pitch over the playground in left for a three-run home run that put the Tide in front by two entering the final frame,

Tennessee would not go quietly in the ninth, loading the bases with two down and drawing a walk to push across one run. With the bases still full, Aidan Moza shut the door for his first save of the season, getting three straight swinging strikes to end the ballgame at 7-6 in favor of Alabama.

Matthew Heiberger (2-0) got the win, working 2.0 innings and allowing one unearned run on two hits with a strikeout. Also highlighting the pitching effort was Braylon Myers, who tossed 3.0 scoreless relief frames with one hit, a walk and two strikeouts.

From Head Coach Rob Vaughn
"I can't tell you how proud I am of these guys. We sat in here all weekend talking about our pillars and what they mean to the program, and man, did these guys live them out the past two days. We got beat around pretty good on Friday, but we showed up and played really good baseball yesterday and today. We made it a little more complicated than it had to be there at the end, but, luckily, we got (Aidan Moza) that came in and slammed the door. That's what we talk about when we talk about toughness, grit, resiliency – (Moza) just embodied it today."

What a win! Really can’t believe it was the first SEC Opener series win since 2016 (even though I’ve lived it). I too hope the crowds grow, but having sat in the Joe on Sunday afternoons when it was a ghost town, I loved the amount of fans who showed. Dixieland Delight in the 8th was icing on the cake. So happy for the guys! A midweek in Montgomery then go win another SEC series next weekend in Athens!

I’ve seen and heard enough of Vaughn to know.

He’s the best Alabama baseball coach in my lifetime (37). Probably ever.

He might not get the consistent results of Wells because the SEC landscape has changed so much, but he’s the best.

Disclaimer: I never liked Wells.

May have missed it, but did Swinney get any ABs this weekend or did Hamiter get all the DH swings?

Also Fay and the Lefty freshmen are going to be huge for use this year

You’re not the first to say that about Vaughn. He’s universally respected.

He got one at bat Friday night (walked) and he was on deck today but didn’t get a chance to bat. Hamiter took the rest of the at bats.

Fay got off to a fast start in his first appearance this weekend but struggled down the stretch. Still like his potential. I’m excited about the potential of Heiberger too.
