He has too much of an ego to quit mid-season.

I don’t think Saban will be able to take not being top Dawg anymore. I don’t see him quitting in mid season though. He is better than that. He has more character and loyalty than the Steve Spurriers of college football. I can see him hanging it up and heading to the beach at seasons end if this year gets worse for Bama.
After all anything is legal or at least tolerated in recruiting nowadays so his recruiting advantage is gone. Besides those 90 lb sorority girls are really scary. As he admitted
