He did have the best two years in fifty years. Fifty!

Nutt Averaged 7.5 wins a year over 10 years at Arkansas. Mostly 11 game reg seasons then.
Bowl games 8 out of 10 years.
Took us to 2 SEC Championship games.

Compare our record his 10 years vs the rest of the time we have been in the SEC. Its not close . By far our best run. We had good solid SEC teams.

His recruiting was very underated. He got railroaded by the Springdale/Mustain bunch. Records are what matters Check them out.

If he was forced out why? in 2007 he went 8-4 and ended season beating the number 1 team on the road.

We sent him down to our AAA minor league affiliate Ole Miss to work on his swing.

He never made it back.

Mallet wasn’t coming due to how bad Nutt was with QBs.

Nutts ego caused all his issues.

There is a reason he couldn’t get RB coaching positions or even the A State job after OM.

Danny fords recruiting, Matt Jones and Darren McFadden are what made Nutt look like a decent coach. Also the SECW was a joke at the time compared to what it is now

Didn't he get that position with the Cowboys for a bit or am I imagining that? Thought I remembered Jerry throwing him a bone.

After some research it looks like meeting up to talk about him taking the position is as far as that went. That's tough. Couldn't even get it on the inside track with the boss.

I lived in Arkansas during that time and it was a show. Fans were divided. Pro-Nutt booster sent negative personal message(s) to Mustain. Fans filing FOIAs on phone records. Relationship with local female sportscaster. The Springdale situation was strain on the program.

Banners were being flown. Fans were wearing black shirts in protest of Nutt.

Schedule complaints about not playing Vandy and then they lose to Vandy when they played them.

"That's right, I called that play. I called a lot of good plays today" - Nutt postgame comment.

Homer Media folks like Rick Shaffer (AKA Dick Shaver) being hostile and taking sides.

Benching Mustain when he had them on a winning streak.

It was a mess.

Seems like mustain coming to Arkansas in the same class along with malazhn was the reason Mallet chose not to come here.

Not winning the SEC in 06 had something to do with it.

Nutt should have taken that plane to Nebraska.

Mallett was never coming to Arkansas because Nutt had a bad reputation for not developing QBs.

Only when Petrino was hired did he want to go to Arkansas.

Mallett was 07.

Arkansas had previously signed another five-star QB recruit, Mitch Mustain, and Mallett may have seen this as a threat to his chances to play early. Mallett was proven correct as he saw immediate playing time once Wolverines starter Chad Henne was injured.

Boy he really was in the people helping business.

Ryan Mallett did not hit it off at Michigan how he would have liked, so he decided to return to his roots and transfer to Arkansas. Mallett was a talented passer, wooed by not only Michigan and Arkansas but also Alabama, Florida State and Texas.

That was the excuse but no good QB recruit would ever play for Nutt.

Mustain was the anomaly.

If Mallett ever did come to Arkansas, he would end up transferring.

He was actually a good recruiter as far as pulling in good players, both highly ranked and diamonds in the rough. He could recruit and he could find hidden gems. What he was MISERABLE at was Team BUILDING- as in he'd recruit 10 guys for one position and none for another.

He had one of the worst recruiting classes in program history, the 2000 class.

It was so bad that Nutt made a public apology.

He was responsible for oversigning so many players at Ole Miss that the SEC had to put a limit on players signed each year.
