The patriarch of the Uga line, he was a Savannah icon - a key figure in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, serving as Jim Williams’ lawyer both in real life and as the trial judge in the movie adaptation.
He was 90 years old.

I graduated in Savannah. He was a big deal even before the books came out. He lead a life many envied.

My condolences to his family as well. He lived and breathed Georgia, and for that, he earned my respect. May God bless and keep his loved ones in their time of bereavement.
