Alabama can't hit and the fielding is exceptionally bad. This is the kind of team that finishes under .500 in conference play.

I am calling it now. Under 500 but Beavers should keep us in many games. The game she pitched 2 runs were unearned

Simply put, a disastrous day for Bama. Dowling and Heivilin each with 3 errors (and honestly, it looked like the team committed more than that - I’m guessing plays with multiple errors were recorded as 1 error against the player who committed the first one). It was the worst performance I ever recall seeing. Silly errors and stupid (stupid) decision making. Pitching and defense have been the “bread and butter” so far this year and both went out the window today. Another one against Florida tomorrow, then a road trip to FSU, followed by a weekend series at Georgia. Bama Fans gird your loins.

quote:

Alabama fell in Sunday's game two to Florida, 11-2, in five innings as the Gators clinched the weekend series.

Similar to game one, Alabama (19-3, 0-2 SEC) fell behind early after Florida (21-3, 2-0 SEC) plated a pair of unearned runs in the first inning. The Gators added another run in the top of the third on an RBI single and, now trailing 3-0, the Crimson Tide loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the third. On a grounder to the right side, the Florida second baseman missed the tag attempt as everyone was safe, scoring a run and keeping the bases loaded. Later with the bases loaded and one out, another run scored on an RBI groundout before a flyout ended the inning with Alabama trailing by one.

Gator pitcher Ava Brown helped her own cause in the top of the fourth with a solo home run and Florida piled it on in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs on five hits and three Tide errors to push ahead 11-2, which proved final after five innings. Jaala Torrence (7-2) took the loss for the Tide in the circle, exiting after 2.0 innings.

From Head Coach Patrick Murphy
"We got in our heads. When you're struggling on defense, the ball always continues to find that one person. It's like a magnet. Unfortunately, that was just an ugly game. That kind of game happens across all sports and tonight was ours."

I don’t know who the answer is as the future coach, but we have to be looking. We’ve gotten worse every year. I believe that Murphy need a change of scenery as bad as Bama needs a change.

I hope we lose every SEC series and finally get rid of Murphy.

A few of us have been saying he needed to go for several seasons. Bama softball has gotten a little worse almost every year since the natty. Murphy is coasting and doing nothing different to turn things around. The definition of insanity is to do the same the over and over and expect different results. That is our softball coach now. We’ve struggled to hit the ball for how many seasons now? Yet Murphy still hasn’t hired a proven hitting coach. I really wish Byrne would pull the trigger on Murph before he completely destroys the program.

That's been his biggest downfall...no HITTING ELITE COACH.

Murphy has proven that he doesn't want to adapt. Offenses are winning championships now.

All our girls are batting WORSE than ever.

Greg Byrne might have to force his hand here.

Nick Saban even went against his own morals and hired LANE KIFFIN...

There's got to be a LEGIT D-1/2 coach who's young and has adapted to the game.

His former players love him and defend him all over social media. They would be on Greg like shite on a stick if he were to be fired or forced to resign. He is a good ambassador for the U and the teams which I think goes a long way with Greg.

But I am ready for a change.

I am among this number. He is the Bobby Cox of college softball.

14 of 20 errors have been committed by 3 people on the infield. Which I assume is normal as they get most of the action? But 6 in one game may be an all time high for a Murph coached team.

After the first loss to FL I said I wouldn't be surprised if FL swept the series. Well, I'm 2/3 of the way to not being surprised. Murph blew it by not hiring a high quality hitting coach with his two recent staff actions. This season is going to be ugly.

Beavers should be pitching tonight. Unless the D fails again I expect a low score. But their freshman ace is also pitching and she held us scoreless.

The fans need to make a statement and not get season tickets to this garbage. We seem to sell out every season so I guess the softball fans that attend don't mind. I feel like we will be well under .500 this year. I'm not seeing many series where we have a greater chance to win than not.

A lot of fans I see are in the 50 year old age and up. I am 63 and try and look at the trends etc. Most are probably going to games since they were in their 20's. Like FB people who endured years prior to NS
