Bama SB in a dog fight vs VA in game two. Brisky is struggling even though we have a lead. Kaney got the start and is o for 2 with two K's I think both were looking but cant recall the first one. Not sure why she should play the rest of the game. We have a slim 3-2 lead but Brisky just game up a base runner with no outs.

We still need a hitting coach for sure though.

the VA pitcher must be good. We scored on the starter 3 runs and was scoreless vs their number one. Only had 4 hits. SOS

It was KJ Haney’s ‘Senior Day’ game - I’m certain that’s why she was in there.

Alabama softball grabbed another pair of wins Saturday at the Easton Bama Bash, defeating St. Thomas 8-0 in five innings before holding out for a hard-fought 3-2 win over Virginia.

Alabama's (9-0) bats led the way vs. St. Thomas (1-7), scoring eight runs backed by 5.0 shutout innings in the circle from Jaala Torrence (3-0). The Tide scored three unanswered to start the second game against Virginia (4-4) before the Cavaliers narrowed it with two in the third inning. The pitching combination of Jocelyn Briski (3-0) and Kayla Beaver kept the score the same the rest of the way, earning the win and a save, respectively.

Larissa Preuitt was 3-for-5 between the two games, including an RBI triple to drive in the final run of the game against the Tommies. Abby Duchscherer was 1-for-2 in game one but failed to reach base against Virginia, ending her career-best hit streak at eight games. Bailey Dowling hit her first home run of the season, a solo shot against the Cavaliers. In the circle, Torrence and Briski each took home their third wins of the season while Beaver tallied her first save with the Crimson Tide, the eighth of her career.

From Head Coach Patrick Murphy
"Yesterday we were short a little bit on the run rule, but today we got it done. When you are the home team and there's a potential run rule in effect, that's the goal - to end it early so your defense doesn't have to go back out for another inning. It was really good offense all the way around. I also thought our defense played really well. The pitching was great all day, and that helped us squeak out a win in the second game against a really good Virginia team."

We don't need to be "squeaking out" wins over weak and mid-level teams. Our pitching and fielding seem adequate but our hitting is awful. I'll say it again, Murphy missed a golden opportunity to get a quality hitting coach instead of promoting from within the program.

You are preaching to the choir amigo. What is Kayla's roll on the team besides being the first base coach? Wasnt she a slapper? We know we need more slappers in SB these days when OK beats the stuffings out of people by playing long ball

The Beaver is going to be our ACE and I think she hit 70. Brisky was not sharp but left in the middle of an early inning with some kind of injury.

Only had 2 hits in a win vs S Indiana, a true giant in college softball. After this weekend if some of you couch potatoes are not concerned with our hitting then I cant help you. SEC pitching will eat us alive I am afraid. Before some of you sunshine pumpers call me out wait until we are 15 games into SEC play.

As long as Murph is in charge it will be the SOS. and no one has the balls to fire him cuz he does just enough to keep the brass and alums happy. So we Bams who like SB will have to be contempt to winning vs a bad team with great pitching. Eventually that will catch up to us like it did in the CWS.

He is loyal to his long term people are some of our 4th and 5th year seniors are not batting over 250. I am waiting on todays stats to be updated. Replacing them would be a start. getting slap hitting out of his lineup would be a start.

My point is, I think everyone agrees with you . Most want a new voice/HC or at the very least , a top notch hitting coach. But maybe where we differ a bit is I am not ready to write the season off after the second weekend of the season in which we are undefeated
Yes we will struggle offensively against good competition but didn’t we already know that ? For whatever reason , Murph likes manufacturing runs/style of play

ETA- I am still going to games , watching on tv and getting mad like most years

mrbroker: I think you mean "content". Regardless, I'm sure not content with our hitting.
