Maybe you failed to read the article? She was on leave with no pay. They tried to get her to cooperate with the investigation and she refused.

And you didn't read the second part of my comment. What the hell is the harm of keeping her employed even though she is not cooperating. She gets paid peanuts. She can't do any work under the name of Georgia since she is on leave. All she would be able to do is cash a check. Why the hell not take the hit of basically a minimum wage paycheck and avoid any issues that might come with her being terminated? Paying an attorney that specializes in employment to make sure this firing is all kosher costs a whole lot more than they would have paid for this girl's salary. It's stupid move money wise and is just one more story related to this tragic even being consumed by the public that didn't need to happen. One more time that the public is reminded UGA employees were related in the death of two people. Cost/benefit isn't there.

But she was not getting paid anything. And she refused to cooperate with the investigation.

If she refuses to shed light on what happened, why should we keep her employed?

What she was paid is irrelevant. You never keep people on the payroll that have sued you, you are setting yourself up for more lawsuits. That person becomes a walking time bomb for another lawsuit. Attorneys are suit happy. They will come up with more crap.
