Nah. I stand firm that BV will make the team better and more SEC ready. Physically and mentally. Definitely recruiting the right way. I expect to struggle at first. So I agree with your assessment of OU being fine. That said, with LR OU would have been a soft arse Big 12 team and it would have taken years to catch our footing. The original post I replied to mentioned OU should have hired a OC to be the head coach. Which I completely disagree with. Kirby and Saban will continue to win this conference over the likes of Heupel, Fisher (lol), Kiffens…. And dam sure would have dominated LR teams. Defense minded teams still win Champions.

With LR players. Yup. We were soft. Have you watch an OU team the last century. Defense is not our strong suit. Didn’t expect that to change in one season.

Great post, very informative!! What am I in denial of? The fact that DC/HC still win championships.

There will be plenty of SEC ready players wanting to play for the Sooners. OU will be just fine.

Form a recruiting standpoint, they're 5 or 6 in the SEC as opposed to 1 or 2 in the Big 12.

This is false. OU has had top 4 SEC recruiting classes since they announced they were coming. OU will finish with the 3rd ranked sec class this cycle.

The State of Texas, while they have good players, are mostly not SEC quality due to the way high schools football is played there. The State of Texas has only won 1 NC since 1970.

You seem like a rational guy who likes stats. In 2023 OU recruited 4 OL all blue chips, each one was from a different US time zone. OU recruits the southeast very well, mainly Florida, also California, and MO. Last year Oklahoma recruited a player from 25 different states. Why don’t you take a look at OUs classes back to 2001 and tell me they only recruit Texas. OU is one of if not the best national recruiting programs and that’s through 3 different coaching staffs.

To me, the huge winner in all of expansion is Oklahoma.

They found a premier conference that they needed. I look at last year as an anomaly.

I can’t wait for Oklahoma in Tiger Stadium.

Gonna be absolutely sick.

Thats the thing, since we’ve been in different conferences all the prior talk is about measuring sticks.

Once we move its gonna be fun. We won’t win as much but the games and fan atmospheres will be 10 times better. And as a football fan thats going to be so fun.

There will be a change due to 12 team playoffs where 3 SEC teams should be standard in playoffs with occasional 4. Its going to be a tougher schedule for “every” team including OU. But there will so much fun to be had and thats more memories.

I really look forward to it and all the new friends to make along the way.

OU and Texas will struggle until you start recruiting SEC talent on D, IMO. You both have brand names so recruiting that type player should be no problem. bama, UGA, and LSU have really good O's. They win games with stellar D's.

Agree 100% and it's the reason I don't think sark survives 2 years in the sec
