Arch Manning gets NIL to get a jump-start on soon-to-be NIL restrictions?

The Manning family is on record as saying Arch would not receive NIL money until he became a starter at Texas. Did they lie?

Senators Joe Manchin (D-WVA) and Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala) introduced legislation yesterday that would overhaul collegiate athletics and create a national standard for using an athlete's name, image and likeness (NIL).

Sure sounds like Archie & Company reversed courses quickly to capitalize on all that Arch can get before it becomes regulated and controlled.

Just sayin'.

They made an exception if he gave the money to charity, and he is.

This is desperate on your part. Manning is good people.

Verify the quote where they said they would do this and then verify which charity he's giving it ALL to.

The Austin American-Statesman news article on this subject fails to mention any exception to receiving NIL; only that he would not receive any NIL until he became a starter. Austin American-Statesman

At this point I’d rather the players just unionize and have contracts. Let’s just fast forward to where this thing was already headed from the day NIL became legal. The whole “NIL” charade is a joke. It’s pay for play. Maybe 10% of the money made is from actual NIL related activities or products.

It's not the players fault. It's people like Tubs who made millions off the labor of others and refused to compensate the laborers.

This is from the auction listing: One hundred percent of proceeds from the sale of the Manning Prizm card will benefit children and their families in Central Texas with support from St. David’s HealthCare and St. David’s Foundation.

There will be no restrictions to NIL anytime soon. I don't think any of you realize what a supreme court ruling means. There may be a challenge to the ruling, but at the very least, it will be tied up in courts for years.

The link to the story regarding the auction: LINK

The question then begs, "will Arch continue to donate all future NIL money to charity" until he becomes a starter?

Get it while you can.....

I'm sure the world will consult you from now on to find out future world events as they affect us.

And will likely end in a Supreme Court "Did We fricking Stutter?" decision in favor of the athletes.

Unfettered free markets in college ball will destroy the sport. Nobody cares about the athletes in college ball. They care about their school and regional rivalries. Free markets will inevitably pauperize most schools and deepen the haves and have-nots divide. This will lead to many disengaging from the sport since there is no competitive interest in it for them.

I think arriving at an NFL style labor+political peace is the only avenue where this sport survives ruination.
